Andrea Marchant
August 29, 2011
Andrea Marchant left the city of Denver, Colorado five years ago to pursue her dream of being a singer/songwriter in the city of Los Angeles, California.
Music is her passion, which is obivous to anyone who has ever seen her perform or has listened to her CD "Counting Down." Her songs speak directly to the listener, as if Andrea wrote the song just for you. Her music is not only a conversation of Andrea's life to the listener, its a conversation of things the listener understands, as well.
Andrea loves to laugh! She also loves people, and she connects with you as though you've been friends for years. She believes in the power of music and she wants to do beautiful things with it.
As someone who has both listened to her music and seen her in person, Andrea is very genuine and kind-hearted. Her love of music is evident the moment she picks up her guitar and her love for people is noticed the moment it's been put away. She makes you feel important, which to me, is what really helps you find you inner beauty.
Andrea joined Team True Beauty without being asked twice and she has been a proud supporter ever since. On June 9, Andrea tweeted: "Heard a girl crying today in a store & talked with her for a while. She was feeling down on herself, so we talked about @TeamTrueBeauty! I helped her pick out some clothes, and she said she felt much better. Girls, you're STUNNING! Beauty comes from within! :) @TeamTrueBeauty" She has used her voice to help make a difference!
We couldn't be more honored to have her on board here at Team True Beauty! She took some time to give us some extremely insightful responses to our questions, and again, you can see her love for people and her passion for the Team True Beauty cause:
TTB: Why did you decide to join Team True Beauty?
ANDREA: Throughout my entire life I've felt different, and I've always longed for an outlet through which to speak about it. The Team True Beauty gals found me, and I'm so thankful for what they're doing! I made a vow to myself and to those who know me that I will always stand up for what I believe. No matter what happens with music or anything else in life, I'll fight for what is right. And I believe strongly in the message that Team True Beauty is sending out into the world!
TTB: What is one piece of advice you would give to people who are struggling to see THEIR true beauty?
ANDREA: It's a subject that's plagued women (and men too) for countless years. We live in a country that tends to focus, whether inadvertently or otherwise, on the wrong things. Outer beauty shouldn't be the main focal point of our lives. Refining our hearts and minds should be the beauty we strive for. Another reason this campaign is so dear to me is because I've been a nanny to several wonderful girls who had no idea just how beautiful they truly are. I'll never forget one story in particular. I nannied an amazing 4-year-old girl named Gabby. I picked her up from school one day, and she started to cry. When I asked her why she was crying, she said, "The kids at school called me fat today." Tears immediately filled my eyes. I pulled the car over, put her in my lap, held her and assured her that those kids were wrong. I then devoted the rest of my time building her up. I constantly told her how stunning she was inside and out. For whatever reason, when I'm feeling down on myself and am feeling far less than beautiful, I tell someone else how beautiful THEY are. It fills them up, which in turn, makes me feel better too. EVERYONE, male and female, is beautiful in their own unique ways. It's what makes this world so colorful!!! We also need to tame our tongues. They can be used for good, or they can be used to hurt people. And I've learned that flippant speaking does more damage than we know. We need to build each other up rather than tear each other down. And think about it, as we continue to build each other up, it'll have a domino affect. Imagine the wall of beauty we can build! :)
TTB: How do YOU describe beauty? True beauty? Is there a difference?
ANDREA: Beauty comes in many forms. And of course physical is one of them. I could ramble for days (but I won't) about the fact that everyone's beautiful. Everyone has beautiful features. Everyone's different. No two people look EXACTLY alike. One of my favorite quotes is, "Everyone's beautiful to someone." I don't know who originally said it, but I love that. It's not about size or height or hair color or anything else. It's about who you are and what you strive to be. I think TRUE BEAUTY lies in being exactly who you are at any given moment...and not apologizing for it. Confidence is extremely beautiful. Selflessness is beautiful. Humility is beautiful. Humor is beautiful. Passion is beautiful. The list is endless...
TTB: What is one thing that your fans/followers/TTB supporters would be surprised to find out about you?
ANDREA: On a funny note, I'm the WORLD'S BIGGEST KLUTZ. It's rather unbelievable. I fall over EVERYTHING, and it happens daily. The best incidence I can remember was this. When I was 16, I had the privilege of singing at a huge conference in Colorado in front of thousands of people. It was terrifying. I was so nervous that I went up to the balcony to breathe and try and calm myself down. Waiting for me at the bottom of the grand staircase was the press/media (tv cameras, newspaper reporters, etc.). I saw them, became even more nervous, tumbled down the ENTIRE FLIGHT OF STEPS and landed at their feet. :)
On a serious note, music means the world to me. I'll always make music, until I take my last breath. But what I'm also extremely passionate about is people. I want people to know how amazing they are! I want them to know that they ALL have beautiful talents and that they can help make this world infinitely better!
TTB: If there is ONE thing that you can leave this spotlight with, concerning ANYTHING (funny or serious), what would it be?
ANDREA: I'll say this much, life would be dull if I didn't laugh a million times a day. It makes everything better and brighter. We need to look for the beauty in all things and in ourselves...'cause we all have plenty to spare!
TTB: Anything else you need to say?
ANDREA: I realize my answers were long and rambly, so cut them down however you need to. I just get so fired up about this subject! I HATE FEELING DOWN ON MYSELF! And it hurts my heart to see others feeling awful about themselves too! So we need to build each other up! :) Thanks!!! Again, I'm SO HAPPY to be a part of this!
And we don't think your answers were to long or rambly, and we're also SO HAPPY that you are a part of this too!
