To many of you, the name "Aynsley Bubbico" is a new one, but I sure hope this spotlight changes that for you! She's definitely a genuine sweetheart with a big heart for others, and this cause! In case you were one of those people who didn't know who she was before, here's a little information to help change that!
Aynsley Bubbico was born in Stamford, CT. She attended a private school, but went right to work acting in school plays and starring in many of them!
Aynsley is also a phenomonal and accomplished singer, in fact, there are many videos of her singing on YouTube!
She appeared in many short films and had small roles on some television shows before landing the role that made her famous (at least to me), Laura on ABC Family's GREEK in 2007.
The character of Laura started off as a smaller role, but Aynsley knew how to make her shine in every scene she appeared in! Through the four seasons of GREEK, Aynsley portrayed the "bitchy" though loveable character, and soon she found larger roles including "secret pantry love affairs."
The writers on GREEK gave Aynsley some of the best one liners on the show, and as stated earlier, she was definitely spectacular at delivering them! Though Laura started out as just another "ZBZ Sister," Aysley brought her to life in such a way that she was one of the favorite characters by the end of the show.
While on GREEK, Aynsley ventured to How I Met Your Mother and played "Maya" a girl, who many fans speculated later, could be the "Mother" of Ted's children! Though that was back in 2009, so who knows.
Sadly, fans had to say "Goodbye" to their GREEK friends in the spring of 2011, but they can all rest assured to know that Aynsley is definitely going to continue to go far with all that talent she has!
Being a fan of GREEK is how I became a fan of Aynsley, and so when I jumped on board with Team True Beauty, I was ecstatic to know that she wanted to be a part of it too!
She was one of the first people I contacted when we started Celebrity Spotlights, and she was one of the first to respond back!
The questions are the same every week, but each celebrity we've given them to, has had such an awesome take on each one. As I reviewed Aynsley's answers for this spotlight, I almost teared up, again. She has such a sweet heart and a wonderful and inspiring take on this Campaign's message!
Here's what Aynsley had to say!
TTB: Why did you decide to join Team True Beauty?
AYNSLEY: I joined Team True Beauty because I think that low self-esteem and eating disorders are the biggest threat to a happy life for young women, and I am committed to doing anything I can to help alleviate the pressure that is put on young girls and women to be a certain size or fit a particular mold of what is "beautiful".
TTB: What is one piece of advice you would give to people who are struggling to see THEIR true beauty?
AYNSLEY: I would say to look inside first and see what makes you a GOOD person, and to see that those attributes are what make you beautiful from the inside. That is a kind of beauty that will not fade with age, and it is unfortunate that it gets the least amount of importance placed on it. A good exercise would be to write down 3 things you like about yourself every day. Are you a good listener? Do you have a genuine smile? Do you give good advice and support to those around you? Eventually you'll notice that inner beauty forcing its way out and everyone will take notice. It's called confidence!
TTB: How do YOU describe Beauty? True Beauty? Is there a difference?
AYNSLEY: I would probably say that the difference between Beauty and True Beauty is what's inside the person. We have all met people who are beautiful on the outside who maybe are lacking inner beauty. Letting your inner light shine, having confidence, and being kind to others is what separates a beautiful person from a person who possesses True Beauty.
TTB: What is one thing that your fans/followers/TTB supporters would be surprised to find out about you?
AYNSLEY: When I was a senior in college I weighed about 20lbs more than I do now, and it never occurred to me that I was overweight or that there was anything wrong with the way I looked. When I look back at pictures from that time I am shocked at how much bigger I was! I went to college in Upstate NY where it is freezing cold and everyone is bundled up all of the time, and the emphasis was on talent and hard work, not on weight. It is interesting how susceptible we are to societal pressure. At that time I wouldn't have thought twice about my weight, and now I live in a city where women are literally starving themselves to fit into someone else's mandate of what is beautiful. Luckily, I am not willing to sacrifice food, health, and overall happiness for someone else's version of what I should look like, but I understand how that is not the case for others.
TTB: If there is ONE thing that you can leave this spotlight with, concerning ANYTHING (funny or serious) what would it be?
AYNSLEY: It truly bothers me that the message that is being sent to young women today is that in order to be beautiful or desired there needs to be less of her. We all have different DNA, so why should we all wear the same size jeans? It is a constant struggle for all women (and men, too!) to love and accept ourselves as we are. What I would like to leave this spotlight with is this: Even if you never lose a single pound, dye your hair, or wear the newest fashion trend, there is someone in this world who thinks you are beautiful. You ARE beautiful.
Below is a poem I came across years ago that has stuck with me ever since.
if I wait to be
perfect
before I love myself
I will always be
unsatisfied
and ungrateful
if I wait until
all the flaws, chips,
and cracks disappear
I will be the cup
that stands on the shelf
and is never used
And I hope that it'll stick with all of us as well!
