Beverley Mitchell
May 6, 2011
Beverley Mitchell was born on January 22 in Arcadia, CA. She broke into the business in an unusual way, by throwing a temper tantrum in the mall. A talent agent heard the fuss and the rest is history.
She debuted on TV in the 1990 series: Big Brother Jake and before long she was on her way. She appeared in numerous TV movies and guested on many TV shows before getting her big break in 1996's The Crow: City of Angels with Vincent Perez.
Also in 1996, The WB cast Beveley to bring life to Lucy Camden, the middle child of the Reverend Eric and Annie Camden on it's new series, 7th Heaven.
Fans of 7th Heaven, literally watched Beverley and Lucy grow up on the show during it's 11 year run. She grew from a young girl dealing with young girl issues to a woman who was determined to pave her way to success as a pastor, wife and mother.
Since spending her days on 7th Heaven, Beverley released her self-titled debut album, for which she co-wrote 8 songs. Singing was a talent that she occasionally showcased on 7th Heaven as well.
Beverley went on to get married to Michael Cameron in Italy in October 2008 (which her sisters from7th Heaven were bridesmaids in.)
She is currently making her return to television as a recurring guest star as the new guidance counselor on ABC Family’s Secret Life of the American Teenager.
When we asked her to be both a part of Team True Beauty and our Celebrity Spotlight series, Beverley jumped at the chance. She wanted to share her knowledge and wisdom of literally growing up in front of the camera with all of our supporters.
We can’t thank her enough for all of her dedication and support. Her answers to the questions we asked reflected not only the amazing woman she has become, but also showcases her beautiful heart and soul.
We here at Team True Beauty are both proud and honored to share her advice with all of you, and we hope each of you are touched by her words, just as we were.
TTB: Why did you decide to join Team True Beauty?
Beverley: I decided to join Team True Beauty because I completely support the message! Beauty is so much more than a physical appearance! True Beauty is in your soul. It is who you are and has nothing to do with your physical appearance! A beautiful soul is far more captivating than a pretty face!
TTB: What is one piece of advice you would give to people who are struggling to see THEIR true beauty?
Beverley: The advice I would give to people struggling to see their beauty is the realization that they are perfect just they way they are and just the way they are not! Who wants to look like everyone else! Embrace your uniqueness! Be proud of who you are! Let the world see who you are, share the brilliance you have and what you have to offer! You make this world a better place for being here! Share it! Show the world what you have to offer!
TTB: How do YOU describe Beauty? True Beauty? Is there a difference?
Beverley: True Beauty is kindness! It is in a smile you share, it is the helpful hand, the kind heart, the forgiving heart, the inspirational voice! Beauty is inside you, not what you look like! It is so much deeper!! Showing our hearts and sharing it is beautiful!
TTB: What is one thing that your fans/followers/TTB supporters would be surprised to find out about you?
Beverley: Something my fans would be surprised to know is that in my career I was encouraged to get plastic surgery so "I could be pretty enough to be a star." I politely said "no, thanks. I like the way I look, I am perfect just they way I am!" The world will tell you you're not good enough, stop listening to others and listen to yourself! You are perfect!
TTB: If there is ONE thing that you can leave this spotlight with, concerning ANYTHING (funny or serious) what would it be?
Beverley: One of the biggest thing I have learned is that my thoughts control my world! I would never allow anyone [to] say the thoughts I say to Myself. So I no longer allow myself to beat myself up! I need to be nicer to myself! My world is what I make it! I choose for it to be beautiful and kind! I no longer allow negativity, I don't need it and will not waste my time with it!
In closing we wanted to share something with all of you that Beverley shared with us:
