Amy Paffrath
March 9, 2012
_Amy Paffrath is a force to be reckoned with! She is an actress, a TV
host, a comedienne, activist for ALS, beautiful (inside and out) and
recently, she added "fiance" to her resume (to long time boyfriend and
Team True Beauty Supporter: Drew Seeley) as well. She is a natural
in front of the camera and on the stage, which is easy to see in ANY of
her many projects, from E! News to Jersey Shore: After Hour, and her
smile is simply contagious!
I have looked up to and respected Amy for years, and when she joined Team True Beauty, I was a little starstruck.
I got the chance to meet Amy at church in California. Within minutes of meeting her, she had me wrapped in a hug and made me feel like we had been friends for years. She is very genuine! She truly cares for and appreciates her fans.
I remember when I asked her if she was interested in hosting the Team True Beauty 1-Year Event; she couldn't have been more excited! She also couldn't have been more perfect for the the job! She got up on the stage and talked to the crowd like they were all her best friends. You could see that she was having a good time, especially during the raffle (she kept winning), and then she took the time to get to know the people around her.
She has been a huge advocate for Team True Beauty since she joined in the early days of it's existence. She has donated her time, voice, tweets, and facebook space to our cause ever since.
Amy has a grace and passion for living and making a difference. She's a true gem and I'm so honored to say I know her!
TTB: Why did you decide to join Team True Beauty?
AMY: I joined Team True Beauty because it's an incredible group of girls spreading a amazing message. I think it's important for everyone girl to feel beautiful. We need to encourage each other to accept ourselves completely, flaws and all, and to appreciate the uniqueness in each other.
TTB: What is one piece of advice you would give to people who are struggling to see THEIR true beauty?
AMY: To those struggling to find their true beauty, spend time with yourself. Get to know who you are. Don't let the opinions of others pollute your mind. Discover what makes you unique and special and celebrate that! We all have something that makes us sparkle. I think volunteering and putting the focus on others brings out the best in us all. When you are making someone else smile you find your own gifts. You may find your best attributes like patience, kindness and strength.
TTB: How do YOU describe Beauty? True Beauty? Is there a difference?
AMY: Beauty to me is that special something that makes a person sparkle. It has nothing to do with physical appearance. It has to do with that special something that lights up a persons heart. When someone is super confident or just really genuinely happy, it shows up in their body language and in their actions. Beauty is being able to make everyone around you feel loved and special. That's what true beauty means to me. Knowing that everyone is worthy of love and attention and sharing it freely.
Beauty is taking care of yourself and loving your body! Eat right, nourish the body you were blessed with. If you have mobility you are blessed! If you can see, you are blessed! If you are in good health and have a family who loves you and a roof over your head, you are blessed! We need to spend more time be thankful for the everyday joys we take for granted rather than focusing on aesthetic beauty. It doesn't matter. God created us and he is proud of his creations. Enjoy life! Its meant to be fun :)
TTB: What is one thing that your fans/followers/TTB supporters would be surprised to find out about you?
AMY: I share my life pretty openly so I don't know that's there much left to be surprised about! I guess people might be surprised to know that I didn't grow up privileged. My family didnt have much money. I lost a sister to cancer when she was 20, i was 18. My life hasn't been easy but then again, no ones life is easy. But regardless of how much a person has had to overcome, there is no excuse for not going after their dreams. I don't have much tolerance for people who get sucked into negativity. We are all dealt our own hand in life and we all have the power within ourselves to rise above it.
TTB: If there is ONE thing that you can leave this spotlight with, concerning ANYTHING (funny or serious) what would it be?
AMY: If I can leave people with one thing it would be to share smiles freely! it is such a tiny thing that creates a profound effect. You have non idea how much a friendly glance can change someone's day. One persons spirit is lifted then they share that joy with another, and another and another. Soon enough the world is smiling together! Sometimes even if you plaster a smile on even if you aren't feeling great, it'll make you feel good!
Thank you, Amy for sharing your smiles with us!
