I was born and raised in Wilmington, NC and absolutely love it. Growing up, I was always very interested and passionate about the arts. From a young age my parents would dress me up and bring me to our local theater to see productions of The Nutcracker, Fosse, or other wonderful shows. I think that being exposed to the arts at such a young age really helped me to develop a strong appreciation. I then danced competitively for 9 years, and participated in chorus for 6. By the time I got to high school, I had less time for after school activities and more time for small hobbies, such as drawing. I began sketching pictures of scenery or TV characters, or really anything that I saw. Turning on music, sitting on my bed, and drawing became one of my most relaxing and favorite past times. I truly love music and art and feel like there is no better way to express yourself.I heard of Team True Beauty almost immediately after it was founded and knew I had to be a part. With all of the pressures of today’s society and all of the negative messages, it was clear that Team True Beauty was spreading a message of hope and love, and changing lives. I am so blessed to be a part of this amazing organization, and cannot wait to see how it changes peoples lives. I hope that everyone can walk away with the message that it’s okay to be unique, and that beauty really does come from caring, loving, and kindness.
