Jodie Sweetin
November 4, 2011
Jodie Sweetin may probably be best known for her role as Stephanie Tanner on Full House, or for her openness about addiction, but she is much more than either other those things.
Jodie was born in Los Angeles on January 19, 1982 and became involved in acting at age 4 when she was cast in a hot dog commercial. From there the world became to know her as the cute little curly haired girl always uttering the word's "How rude" to her Uncle Jesse.
Fans of Full House basically watched Jodie grow up into a teenager before their eyes. Jodie has grown to be a beautiful woman who uses the adversities she has faced in her life to help others.
She recently released her memoir under the title "UnSweetined" and allows the reader to see behind the scenes of her time on Full House as well as into her life during her addiction and recovery.
There isn't a better person to ask to be a part of Team True Beauty, and when she responded and followed the campaign, we couldn't have been more over-joyed! Someone who has been through so much agreed to come and help spread the word to others that there is hope, there is love, and there is a way to feel beautiful, no matter what.
She also willing jumped at the chance to be a part of the spotlight interview, and after reading her answers, we can see why...this is a cause near and dear to her! So enjoy her words of advice and remember it doesn't matter what's in your past, you can always help someone find their true beauty.
TTB: Why did you decide to join Team True Beauty?
JODIE: We live in a culture that is so dominated by looks and outer appearances that it was incredibly refreshing to see a cause driven by INNER beauty!
TTB: What is one piece of advice you would give to people who are struggling to see THEIR true beauty?
JODIE: When you are old, what is it that people will remember about you? How thin you were? How great your abs looked in a bikini? Did you have cellulite? NO. They will remember how you treated them, how you made them smile and your laugh. Looks do not last forever, we all will get old and wrinkly (hopefully) but you can make a huge difference in someone's life by sharing your inner beauty. That's what is most important.
TTB: How do YOU describe Beauty? True Beauty? Is there a difference?
JODIE: I've met beautiful/handsome people before who were so mean, self-obsessed and rude that there was nothing "attractive" about them at all. And I've also met people who were so kind, funny and genuine that they were magnets of good energy around them. To me, THAT is true beauty. I'd much rather be around people who make me laugh and are real than that look good but have no substance. BE YOURSELF!
TTB: What is one thing that your fans/followers/TTB supporters would be surprised to find out about you?
JODIE: Well, if they read my tweets, they know I'm a mom of two and a bookworm :) But what many don't know is that I actually have a B.A. in Liberal Studies, and was planning on being an elementary school teacher for a while. I've since decided on going back into acting, but had even considered being a studio teacher for child actors at one point.
TTB: If there is ONE thing that you can leave this spotlight with, concerning ANYTHING (funny or serious) what would it be?
JODIE: Seriously.... be YOURSELF. Whatever it is you're into, just enjoy it. Don't compare your outsides to other people's. The more that you can learn to just enjoy who you are, the happier you will be. Stay healthy, take care of yourself and find your own path to true happiness!!
