Cherie Johnson
April 29, 2011
Cherie Johnson was born in Duquesne, PA, which is just outside of Pittsburgh, on November 21. She made up her mind to become a celebrity at the ripe old age of six! Apparently, if Cherie puts her mind to it, it happens!
She started her career out on Punky Brewster, back in 1984, but she has been in many, many more roles! She has been in movies, TV movies, and has been a guest on MANY notable TV series!
While Cherie may be remembered most famously as the best friend of Punky or Laura Winslow (Family Matters); she's way MORE than just an actress!
Cherie has put her experience and expertise of movies and television to work as a producer of MANY films over the years including “I Do…I Did!” (which she also starred in and wrote!)
Besides writing movies, Cherie has also been signed to a seven-book deal! Her first book is titled,“Around the World Twice” and is out now! She also released a poetry book titled, “Two Walks of Life”(also out now). This July, she’s releasing her sophomore novel, which is titled, “Peaches and Cream”
Every month, Cherie also writes a piece called “Cherry Picking” for Glam Couture Magazine. It’s obvious that writing is one thing Cherie loves to do, and is also VERY good at!
Cherie holds many different titles in the show business world. She’s an actress, an author, an activist, a producer, and a strong supporter of Team True Beauty (which is OUR favorite title that she holds).
Since the first day we asked Cherie to join Team True Beauty, she said, "Tell me what you need me to do!! It has troubled a lot of my friends I am more than willing to help!" and she's been true to her word and has indeed been a huge help ever since!
Anytime we turn to Cherie with any question or ask if she's willing to help us here with something, she jumps willingly at the chance.
So, naturally, since she joined Team True Beauty on January 9, which is within DAYS of our launch, it was natural that we'd want to put Cherie in the spotlight!
We sent her the questions RIGHT away, and it didn't take her long to respond, as you can see from her responses, this campaign message is extremely close to her heart!
TTB: Why did you decide to join Team True Beauty?
Cherie: I believe more woman need to love themselves for who God made them to be. Everyone is different colors and sizes for a reason. We are not supposed to be cookie cutter. How boring would that be?!
TTB: What is one piece of advice you would give to people who are struggling to see THEIR true beauty?
Cherie: You have to own who you are and love yourself before anyone else can love you. Hey, we all have perfect imperfections....It's okay!
TTB: How do YOU describe Beauty? True Beauty? Is there a difference?
Cherie: Beauty is something that brings me pleasure to look at it or be around it. True beauty is all natural the way God made it, stripped from everything man made! Not just what we see [on the] surface but [in the] heart and soul as well.
TTB: What is one thing that your fans/followers/TTB supporters would be surprised to find out about you?
Cherie: My family and people at school use to tease me about my nose, how it was huge. I honestly didn't have a bone in my nose so people would walk by and flatten it! I begged my mom for years for a nose job. When I turned 16 years old, my mom took me to a plastic surgeon for a consultation. He drew lines on my nose, then told me how I would also need a chin implant and have my eyes done to keep my face aligned correctly. I told my mom I wanted to leave. We couldn't get out of there fast enough; I didn't want to be made over!! We left and she took me to eat at my favorite place. (Food has always made everything better for me) It ends up that I got a car for my 16th birthday and never thought about a nose job again. Now at 35 years old, I really like my nose and I am thankful that I didn't change it!! That would have been a huge mistake for me.
TTB: If there is ONE thing that you can leave this spotlight with, concerning ANYTHING (funny or serious) what would it be?
Cherie: Look in the mirror every day and tell yourself how much you love you and mean it. I appreciate your support and I love you all!!
We love and appreciate all of YOUR support, too, Cherie! Just a couple of days ago, Cherie tweeted about how True Beauty is found in all sizes, NOT just the sizes 0-3, and on January 12, Cherie tweeted that people should follow Team True Beauty because it “raises awareness about eating disorders and that inner beauty is the most important accessory a person can have” Then she hash-tagged the following (hash-tagging is a Twitter term) EatBCute! So, let’s do that…let’s eat and be cute!
If you want to read one of Cherie's Books, they are available on Amazon!
